Prince of Qassim Region, Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, inaugurated today, in the presence of the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Abdul Rahman Al-Fadhli, 27 development projects for the environment, water and agriculture system, at a cost of more than 927 million riyals, with the aim of supporting environmental, water and food sustainability in the region, according to the statement. The objectives of “Vision 2030”, at the King Khalid Cultural Center in the city of Buraidah.
The Prince of Qassim thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his faithful Crown Prince for taking care of everything that would provide water and environmental services to the citizen, and he also thanked the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Engineer Abdul Rahman Al-Fadhli, and the Ministry’s officials for their professional and professional work and follow-up projects.
Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal expressed his happiness with the inauguration of development projects, which include environmental, water and agricultural projects, and come within the ministry’s efforts and plans that are in line with the Kingdom’s vision 2030, noting that the Qassim region deserves attention as it is a food basket for our dear homeland, and a jewel in the unique decade of The homeland is due to the presence of agricultural areas in it that are important to maintain food security, noting the Kingdom’s excellence and global leadership in food security.
The Prince of Qassim indicated that the projects that were launched amounted to nearly one billion riyals and were comprehensive for everything related to the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and the delivery of services to the governorates of the region.
He added that the trend that this country has taken in all services from all service ministries has proven its strength and durability after the crises that have passed us, with the presence of food security and abundance of medicine, and the scarcity of many countries, we find that the Kingdom enjoys distinct food security and there was no Any defect in the extension of food to the markets and to the citizens of our dear country that our country is fine and distinguished by its management and the achievement of the vision’s goals under the supervision and follow-up of my brother, the Crown Prince.
For his part, the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Abdul Rahman Al-Fadhli, affirmed that the projects launched by the Emir of Qassim today serve all the cities, governorates and centers of the region, in implementation of the noble directives of the rational leadership. In line with the vision of the Kingdom 2030, explaining that these qualitative projects were implemented in accordance with the best practical practices and technical expertise, to reflect the functioning of the environment, water and agriculture system, in accordance with national strategies that reflect the leadership’s keenness to provide all decent livelihoods for citizens.
Al-Fadhli explained that the projects included 15 projects for the National Water Company to deliver water services to beneficiaries and manage the demand for them, to strengthen the distribution system in the region, at a financial cost of more than (581) million riyals.
He added: “The water projects included enhancing its sources from underground wells to serve the city of Buraidah and Oyoun Al-Jawa Governorate, through the implementation of two projects in the Al-Mukharram wells field, which included the construction of well chambers and their accessories, central tanks with a total storage capacity of 200 thousand cubic meters, and a pumping station. With a capacity of 200,000 cubic meters per day, at a financial cost of more than 143.7 million riyals, to deliver water to beneficiaries and manage the demand for it. In the city of Buraidah, the company implemented 3 projects to enhance the distribution system, by developing the purification plant, increasing its production capacity, laying main lines with lengths exceeding (56.6) km linear meters, and implementing a pumping station with a capacity of (50) thousand cubic meters per day, at a total cost of more than ( 153.6) million riyals.
He added that the company has implemented 3 projects for sub-networks with a length of more than (128.8) km, and more than (9000) domestic water connections to serve more than (70) thousand new beneficiaries in (37) neighborhoods, at a financial cost of (52) million riyals, and that To increase the coverage of water services in the city of Buraidah.
Minister Al-Fadhli stated: “Two projects were implemented to transfer water to 6 governorates and centers in the region to raise the operational efficiency in them, as 6 sub-pumps for water tanks were established on the transmission lines of the governorates and centers (Al-Dhibih – Qaisumah – Marmothah – Faydat Al-Rishiya – Al-Matiwi Al-Janoubi – and Al-Dahla),” A total pumping capacity of (44,640) cubic meters per day, and the rehabilitation and development of the water purification plant in Al-Asyah Governorate by raising its production capacity from (12,500) cubic meters to (17,472) cubic meters per day, at a total cost of more than (53.6) million riyals. Six strategic tanks with a total storage capacity of (90,000) cubic meters were implemented in the governorates and centers of (Dahla – Fayda Al-Rishiya – Qaisumah – Al-Matiwi – Al-Marmuthah – and Al-Qara’a), and (3) operational overhead tanks With a total storage capacity of (2,250) cubic meters in 3 governorates (Al-Shamsiyah – Al-Nabhaniya – Oyoun Al-Jawa), and at a financial cost of more than (80.2) million riyals.
He pointed out that the company has implemented 3 projects to increase the coverage of water services in 12 governorates in the region, to extend water networks with lengths exceeding (381.5) km, and more than (9,800) household water connections, to serve more than (75,800) new beneficiaries, at a financial cost that exceeded (97.7) million riyals.
Al-Fadhli indicated that, in order to achieve environmental sustainability, and to raise environmental damage in the region; The National Water Company has implemented (8) projects to increase the coverage of environmental services and the treatment system in the region, at a financial cost of more than (276.8) million riyals. Sub-sections with lengths exceeding (25.9) km, and more than (5000) home sewage connections, to serve more than (39,000) new beneficiaries in (31) neighborhoods, and at a financial cost that exceeded (138,8) million riyals.
He explained that 3 sewage projects were implemented in the area to increase the coverage rate, which included the extension of sub-networks with lengths exceeding (73.6) km, and more than (170) household sewage connections, to serve more than (1300) new beneficiaries in the governorates of (Al-Rass – Onaiza – Al-Bakiriya – Al-Bada’i – Al-Mithnab – and Riyadh Al-Khubara), at a financial cost of more than (68) million riyals, noting that the company implemented the expansion of the sewage treatment plant in Al-Rass Governorate, in order to increase the daily treatment capacity from (25,000 m3/day) to (37,500 m3/day) day), with the aim of absorbing the flows and increasing the coverage of environmental services in the governorate, at a financial cost of (70) million riyals.
And he indicated that the ministry, in an effort to increase water sources in the region, implemented 3 projects to increase water sources there, and to drill (24) underground wells in the Umm Hazm field, with a production capacity of (67,200) cubic meters per day, and (4) underground wells in the Um Hazm field. Saq in Al-Bukairiya Governorate, with a production capacity of (11,200) cubic meters per day, a subterranean well, an operational tank, and a filling station for tanks for watering the Badia Al-Mathnab, with a production capacity of (2272) cubic meters per day, at a total cost of more than 16 million riyals.
Al-Fadhli indicated that the General Grain Corporation implemented a project to modernize and develop the iron silos system in Qassim, which numbered (32) silos, with a storage capacity of (200,000) metric tons of wheat, a reception and handling capacity of (200) tons per hour, and an unloading capacity of iron silos. Exceeding (100) tons per hour, and adding new systems to raise the efficiency of the storage process, to achieve food security in the region, at a financial cost of more than (52,600) million riyals.
During the inauguration ceremony, the Prince of Qassim watched a visual presentation that included the details of the projects that were inaugurated, the services they provide to citizens and the support of environmental, water and agricultural resources in the region.
The ceremony was attended by the Governor of the General Organization for Grain, Eng. Ahmed Al-Faris, the Acting CEO of the National Water Company, Nimr Al-Shibl, the Undersecretary for the Emirate of Qassim Region, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Wazzan, the Undersecretary for Survey and Land Affairs at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture Saleh Al-Luhaidan, the Undersecretary for Agriculture Affairs at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture Ahmed Al-Ayada and the General Supervisor of The branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the region, Eng.
