Cutaneous leishmaniasis, a disease transmitted by sandflies, is a disease caused by several types of primary animals of the genus Leishmania Leishmania donovani: it causes high fever, enlargement of the liver and spleen, and pancytopenia. It can be diagnosed through microscopy.

Hail Health had examined 744 male and female students in 7 schools during the month of Ramadan, and the study aims to early detection of cases and transfer suspects to confirm the diagnosis, provide the necessary medical care, and implement appropriate control and prevention measures, as the number of schools examined so far has reached 14 schools. In which 1786 male and female students have been examined to date, pointing out that the targeted schools in the study project are 24, and the total number of the general target population of the project is 3163 male and female students.

It is noteworthy that the project comes within the framework of studying the burden of cutaneous leishmaniasis in children and adolescents in the settlement area, and examining school students (active positive test) in health sectors known for cutaneous leishmaniasis.

On the other hand, Hail Health said in a press release that it is visiting Marafiq and Qasr Al-Ashwarat schools in Hail through the vector control teams and common diseases within the project to study the burden of cutaneous leishmaniasis for children and adolescents in settlement areas, which aims to examine school students for early detection. about cases.
