The German team, Eintracht Frankfurt, won the European League title for the current season “2021-2022”, after winning the final match against Glasgow Rangers, 5-4, on penalties, which brought them together, on Wednesday evening.

The match between Frankfurt and Rangers was held at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium in the final of the European League.

Rangers started scoring in the 57th minute through Joe Aribo, and Frankfurt equalized in the 69th minute by Raphael Bury.

Thus, Frankfurt crowned the Euroleague title for the first time under its new name, knowing that it won the tournament when it was called the European Union Cup (the old name).

Frankfurt entered the match with a lineup consisting of: “Goalkeepers Kevin Trapp, Ivan Ndica, Toure, Tota, Kostic, Rudy, Djibriel Su, Knauf, Daichi Kamada, Rafael Bure, Lindstrom.”

The match started fast and exciting and was the first attempt by Rangers through Joe Aribo, who tried to penetrate into the penalty area, but the defense intervened and extracted the ball in the fourth minute.

Play stopped in the sixth until the ninth minute after one of the Frankfurt players fell to a head injury and the medical staff came down to treat the player before the match resumed after that.

In the 19th minute, Frankfurt was close to finding the net after Knauf’s shot, but it was saved by the Rangers goalkeeper and took it out for a corner kick.

Rangers responded with a dangerous shot in the 25th minute through Joe Aribo, but the ball went near the post to a goal kick.

Frankfurt almost scored a killer goal with Kostic’s feet in the 88th minute, but his shot went just outside the left post, just outside the field.

And the positive tie continued with a score of 1-1 until the end of the original time of the match, to be resorted to overtime.

The extra games ended in a 1-1 draw between Frankfurt and Rangers, so penalties were decided to determine the champion.

Frankfurt won the European League title in his favour, after beating Rangers 5-4 on penalties.
