Today, Monday, the director of Al-Tadamon Local Hospital, Amna Al-Sharif, warned that the medical and paramedical staff suffer from violent attacks that affect especially the workers in the emergency department and the equipment, and it has become daily bread, especially during the night periods when the department turns into an arena of violence and settling accounts between delinquents and alcohol and drug abusers. of the injured and their companions.
Al-Sharif called, in a statement to “Watt”, on the sidelines of the open day to investigate high blood pressure, organized by the Tunisian Association of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery, to strengthen the guards and establish a permanent security point in the hospital, despite the great efforts made by the security forces in the region whenever they were called. Which always restores things to normal, but the focus of a stable security point can contribute to deterring the aggressors before they think of the attack, and save hospital equipment that costs a lot of money.
And she mentioned, in this regard, that during the days of Eid, 3 hospital staff were attacked with extreme violence, one of whom had a heart disease and underwent surgery.
The health official called for supporting the human capabilities of the institution, especially in the two categories of cleaning and guarding currency, to avoid the problems resulting from this shortage and the limited services, noting that this shortage, although at the national level in general, was exacerbated by the solidarity hospital as a result of not compensating the employees who were referred to the hospital. Retire, pass away, or leave by choice.
She pointed out that the hospital’s hemodialysis department, which was opened on August 10, 2020, with a capacity of 12 beds, with limited capabilities and a limited number of staff, can be developed if the hospital is strengthened with an additional number of nurses and currency.
She also called on the director of Al-Tadamun Hospital to support the institution’s budget and said in this context, “When we ask for a budget of 4 million dinars, in fact it represents only two-thirds of the hospital’s need, based on scientific and economic studies and estimates that also take into account the cost of chronic diseases drugs that are determined very accurately. according to the real needs of the patients.
The official stated that it became clear through the study that the budget for chronic disease medicines for the year 2020 only amounts to 2.3 million dinars, while the amounts that are monitored do not exceed 1 or 1.3 million dinars, and despite this, the hospital always pays the dues of the central pharmacy, which does not owe it any amounts. Finance.
In this regard, she expressed her hope that solutions would be found to avoid the shortage of medicines, which is a national problem, through an integrated program that the Ministry of Health is working on.
Despite the recorded shortcomings, the director of the local hospital, Al-Tadamun, did not neglect to note the medical equipment and equipment that was obtained, especially ambulances, within the framework of the “My Dear Health” program, which was developed by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the European Union, and enabled the provision of necessary equipment in all basic health centers. Especially during the Corona pandemic.
And she reported that in 2021, the fleet was reinforced with three ambulances, one of them with unique specifications in Tunisia, in addition to a refrigerator for keeping vaccinations that meets the approved international specifications.
She stressed that the institution’s medical and paramedical framework is working, despite the lack of capabilities, at its maximum capacity, day and night.
