In winter, the Volkswagen electric car took 13 hours to cover a distance of 650 kilometers, because the heating was turned off.

Lisa Braque wanted to avoid the exorbitant €700 ($738.41) Volkswagen servicing costs and report back on her long-distance experience. To do this, Lisa directly subjected her electric car to an endurance test, because temperatures on the way home reach freezing.

The heating in the car turned off for nearly the entire return trip in freezing temperatures, because the colder it was, the more stress the electric car’s battery would be running on the heating systems.

And the problem of the coldness of the electric car appeared recently in a large German company, because in the city of Berchtesgaden in the state of Bavaria, the German Postal Corporation Deutsche Post stops its expensive electric trucks due to snow and restarts its internal combustion engine trucks in the winter months.

During the trip, German reporter Lisa Brack, the auto reporter for the German website Efahrer, which deals with electric cars and renewable energy, covered herself with a hat, scarf, gloves and warm clothes.

But things get exciting even before the first charging station, with Lisa Brack worried that there are enough functional and available charging stations to depend on, because charging at other stations will take about 4 times longer.

With 3 stops at charging stations and a driving and charging time of nearly 13 hours, including low temperatures inside the car, charging without the combined system was a huge extra burden, and Lisa had no choice but to wait.
