Books – Omar Qura:
A new stumble that surprised Al-Ahly in the Egyptian Premier League after its draw with Ceramica Cleopatra with a goal for the same in the match that was held on Saturday evening at the Arab Contractors Stadium in the competitions of the 17th week of the competition.
Al-Ahly survived the defeat in stoppage time for the match through a penalty kick scored by Mohamed Magdy Afsha, bringing his score to 33 points after playing 14 games so far in the championship, in which he is ranked second, behind Zamalek, the leader of the standings, with 38 points from 16 matches.
Two new points lost by Al-Ahly in the league, to continue to bleed points for the third match in a row, after a negative draw with Tala’a El-Jaish in the previous round, and before that the loss from Al-Masry Al-Portsaidi (1-0).
And this became the first time for Al-Ahly in 1250 days, during which the taste of winning the Egyptian League championship was not known for three matches in a row, specifically since the 2018/2019 season during the period from September to November 2018.
Al-Ahly was bid farewell under the leadership of French coach Patrice Carteron during that period two important tournaments, as it lost the African Champions League title to Tunisia’s Esperance in the final, and also bid farewell to the Zayed Cup for Arab Champions Clubs from the round of 16 against Al-Wasl UAE.
Despite winning the league title in that season, Al-Ahly did not win three consecutive matches – specifically in the 5th, 10th and 16th rounds due to the postponement – after a negative tie with Al-Entaj Al-Harby in September, and the defeat by Al-Ittihad of Alexandria (4-3) in October and Al-Mokawloon (1-0) in November.
And with the goal that came in the 11th minute of the calculated time instead of missed, Al-Ahly ended a scoring sterility that lasted for more than 335 minutes, as he did not score against Al-Masry in the meeting, which ended in a 1-0 loss, then Tala’a El-Gaish 0-0, before scoring after 100 A minute in front of Ceramica Cleopatra from the penalty mark.
Al-Ahly’s last goal in the league dates back to the 35th minute of the Al-Ittihad match, with the foot of the Mozambican Luis Miccione, who led his team to victory (1-0) in the 12th week of the competition on April 6, when the giant achieved its last victories before it stopped from the start of the meeting with Al-Masry .
Al-Ahly is currently preparing for an upcoming confrontation with Algeria’s ES Setif in the first leg of the African Champions League semi-final on May 7, before playing the return leg in Setif on May 14.
Al-Ahly, after resolving its position on qualifying for the CAF Champions League final against ES Setif, will seek to wake up at the local level when he returns to the stadium at the Arab Contractors Stadium to face Al-Ahly Bank on May 18 in the 19th round.
