خلال 2021: فتح أكثر من 600 ملف تعويض لحوادث إرتكبها أجانب في تونس

The Unified Tunisian Automobile Office opened 606 compensation files, in 2021, entitled accidents that occurred on Tunisian soil, in which the foreign driver was held responsible.
According to the office’s activity report last year, 573 compensation files were opened entitled accidents on Tunisian soil, in which responsibility was held on the Tunisian vehicle (i.e. Tunisian vehicles committed accidents against foreign vehicles) and 22 compensation files entitled accidents outside Tunisian soil caused by internationally insured vehicles with Tunisian institutions.
During the previous year, the office was able to pay compensation and dues to the various stakeholders in the system, amounting to 5 million dinars.
The same report showed that since the primary role of the office is to dispose of compensation files for the account of insurance institutions and foreign offices, as well as for the Tunisian insurance institutions that are members of the office, it takes over the claim at a later time in the compensation process to recover the amounts, which it assumed, with the employment of commissions that are disposed in accordance with international agreements applicable.
The sums that the office was able to recover in this context during the year 2021 are estimated at about 5 million dinars.
The various activities carried out by the office enabled it to achieve self-resources allocated to meet its various administrative expenses and strengthen its financial solvency, which during the year 2021 amounted to 1.7 million dinars derived from the expenses of disposing of compensation files and selling international insurance cards to insurance institutions that are members of the office and employing its revenues Finance.
The Unified Tunisian Automobile Office is a professional association updated according to the provisions of the Insurance Code. Its membership includes all insurance institutions that practice the activity of car insurance, and it aims to implement agreements related to international insurance by facilitating the entry of Tunisian vehicles to various Arab and foreign countries.
It also enables those affected by accidents on Tunisian soil caused by foreign vehicles to obtain compensation due to them and by guaranteeing compensation for accidents occurring outside Tunisian territory and caused by internationally insured vehicles with Tunisian insurance institutions.
In this context, the Unified Tunisian Automobile Office manages two international insurance systems, the unified Arab card system known as the orange card system, which was joined by an international agreement concluded between the Arab countries in Tunisia in 1975, and the European insurance card system, which includes the various countries bordering the seashore. The Mediterranean, which Tunisia has joined since 1969.
It should be noted that the global health crisis related to the “Covid 19” pandemic and the consequent restrictions on the level of movement of individuals and vehicles between different countries and the continuous closure of borders, especially with sister Algeria, had a negative impact on the office’s activity through the decline of a number of indicators considering the association of the office’s activity With the international movement of the Golan and the movement of individuals and vehicles.
The report on the activity of the unified office showed that despite the importance of these repercussions, the office was able to maintain the stability of most of its activities, resources and balances, suggesting the return to the normal pattern of its activity gradually during the years 2022 and 2023.
It is noteworthy that the Unified Tunisian Automobile Office is a professional association formed, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 114 of the Insurance Code and the provisions of Book VII of the Labor Code, between Tunisian insurance institutions, which deal with car insurance, to implement treaties concluded with foreign countries involved in international insurance card systems
