Amid a wave of changes, the San Antonio Spurs will have a few new looks for the 2022-23 NBA season. The franchise revealed three secondary logos that will be used throughout the season on Monday, May 23. The trio of new designs embrace the team’s “long legacy in Texas,” the announcement says.

“These new logos help broaden the team’s brand with three adaptable logos, while staying true to the Spurs iconic legacy,” the team says in a press statement.

The new logos are launched as part of the Spurs 50th anniversary.

One logo has a Texas-shaped design, another is an “SATX” wordmark, and the third is a basketball logo with “SATX.” The Spurs describe the state-shaped logo as “modern yet minimal, this Texas crest connects fans across the globe to the heart of our home.” The SATX design “highlights our hometown, our region, and our state in just four letters”

Fans can expect to see the new logos on team branding, uniforms, and more. A new collection of Spurs merchandise is now available online, via the Spurs Fan Shop. The new inventory includes T-shirts and zip ups emblazoned with the secondary logos.

The Spurs also debuted a 50th anniversary logo on May 13 that will be used throughout the season.

The news comes after Bexar County commissioners gave final approval on May 17 to the one-year pilot program which will allow the Spurs to play some “home” games outside of the AT&T Center and San Antonio. The proposed plan includes games to be played in Mexico City, Monterrey, and Austin.

While the news made some Spurs fans weary that an eventual move out of the city could be imminent, Spurs Sports and Entertainment Managing Partner Peter J. Holt released a letter on May 10 reassuring fans that the beloved team is here to stay.
